Archer 1st Block 2022-S1 Assignments

Please READ the instructions on the RUBRIC attached. You will have from November 16 - until December 17th to complete this assignment. Make sure you answer ALL questions in COMPLETE SENTENCES. Your answer will not be considered complete if you give 1-word answers to the questions.

For this assignment, you should read the story "Checkouts" and you should answer the questions provided in full sentences. (Remember, you have a quiz over this story and "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" tomorrow!)

Use Google to answer the following questions.

1. Review the slide show that defines the literary terms for this short story.
2. Read the story The Most Dangerous Game.  Identify examples of foreshadowing, internal conflict,  and external conflict. What is the primary setting for this story? You will need this information for answering the questions.
3. Answer the questions.

Read pages 143-186 in Long Way Down.  


Quiz on Tuesday. 

Attached is a list of the 9 articles that have been assigned in Achieve 3000.  You need to check to make sure you have completed all 9 of the articles.  (One of them I just assigned today).  Last chance to get past due work caught up.  

Read pages 102-142.  There will be a quiz on Monday.
Take 1 page and analyze it for figurative language.  Be prepared to present/discuss in class on Monday.

Write a 5 line poem using the cinquain structure. Create a google doc to turn in to me.  Make sure your name is on the document.

Read pages 40-102 in the novel, Long Way Down.  Answer the questions in the worksheet below.  You must complete this before class on Monday.  You can find the novel in the Long Way Down Resource section. 

Before you begin this assignment, make sure to check out the resource section and look over the learning checkpoint practice sample.  


Do the best you can for this assignment.  If you make a 75% or higher you will not have to take the Learning Checkpoint 2 for Unit 1.  


If you do not complete the checkpoint by 2:15 Sept 9th it will post whatever answers you have given to that point and score it. 


Take your time and read the questions and make sure you answer what is being asked.

Read through page 40 of the novel Long Way Down.  Take notes and please note that there will be a quiz on Tuesday over this reading.  You can find the novel in the classwork tab, under Long Way Down Resources.  Remember you can take notes directly on your copy of the novel using the extension, Kami.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Write a paragraph using the prompt below.  You must have a minimum of 15 sentences.  Your paragraph should include at least 2 simple sentences written in italics, 3 compound sentences using bold, and 3 complex sentences underlined.     For extra credit points, include 1 compound complex sentence that you highlight in yellow. Make sure to write using plenty of details.  


Explain what a forest looks like to someone who cannot see.              Good Luck!
