ELAGSE9-10RL7: Analyze the representation of a subject or a key scene in two different artistic mediums (e.g., Auden’s poem “Musée de Beaux Arts” and Breughel’s painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus), including what is emphasized or absent in each treatment.

Learning Target:

1. Analyze the differences and similarities between an epic poem and a film of its subject matter. 

Success Criteria:

1. I will write an essay exploring the similarities and differences in the Green Knight as a poem and as a film. 

2. Write a scene for the film from the text that did NOT appear. 

Activities & Assignments

PP: Discovering Voice exercise

We will review the film “The Green Knight” and its plot so far. What has worked? What has been disappointing? 

As the film concludes we will discuss the theme and how subtle changes in the film affect the meaning (I.E. the knight’s transformation).  

We will conclude class with an activity where students read the original text, pick a section, and write a scene for the film utilizing that section.
