Meet the Teacher

 

Hello! My name is Mrs. Peevy, and this is my third year teaching at Brunswick High School. 

I'm originally from LaGrange, GA, a small town about 60 miles south of Atlanta. I graduated from LaGrange High School and went to college at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA. I went there for my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in pursuit of becoming a counselor. When I was 14 years old, I decided I wanted to work with adolescents (teenagers) who have anxiety and depression, since I have personal experience with mental illness. Upon earning my degree, however, I realized that the counseling profession was not where I wanted to be, so I switched career paths and earned my Master of Arts degree in History. I LOVE history, and I love talking about it with others. I also love helping people learn, so I decided to fuse my two career interests together and become a high school history teacher. To complete this journey, I went back to hometown to get my MA in Teaching. I followed the love of my life here to Brunswick and joined the pirate family. 

 

Outside of school, I have a husband and a German Shepherd named Suki. I like to read young adult and fantasy novels, play video games (Pokemon and Zelda are my favs), and watch anime (Black Clover and My Hero Academia FTW). My favorite topics in World History are the Bubonic Plague, French Revolution, WWI, and the Russian Revolution. I like to get students involved in learning about these topics as much as possible: plays, simulations, games, escape rooms...anything to give you the most realistic learning experience possible!
