Dear BHS Parents/Guardians:

Georgia Milestones End-of-Course (GMEOC) testing will be held during the month of December in Glynn County.  The EOC tests are administered online at BHS for eight specific high school courses in four content areas:

  • English Language Arts (9th Grade Literature, American Literature)
  • Mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry)
  • Social Studies (US History, Economics)
  • Science (Biology, Physical Science)

Per local policy, each EOC will count as 30% of your student’s final grade for these particular courses. In short, this is the score that your student’s teacher(s) will enter into the grade book in the final exam category.  During final exams, students will have a graded assignment for their EOC course on either December 17th or December 18th depending on the block that their EOC course is offered.

The testing schedule for the GMEOC is as follows:

PLEASE NOTE:  students are not permitted to use, or bring into the testing environment, any electronic device that could allow them to access, retain, or transmit information (examples include, but are not limited to, cell phones, smartphones, smart watches, PDAs, electronic recording devices, cameras, playback devices, etc.). Possession and/or use of such devices could invalidate a student’s score on the EOC, which could then mean failing the EOC course.

To minimize the likelihood of invalidation, students will be asked to surrender their electronic devices to their EOC test examiner at the start of the testing period.  Devices will be returned to students at the conclusion of testing for that testing period.  If you are not comfortable with this procedure, please have your student keep his/her electronic device(s) at home.

To prepare, students can take small practice tests at home to familiarize themselves with the online testing format at http://www.gaexperienceonline.com/ (this site works only with a Google Chrome browser).  Click on “Test Practice” and follow the instructions to access the practice tests.  Additionally, students have online accounts with USA Test Prep, which closely mirrors the test format and test items students will likely encounter on the EOC.

For additional information about GMEOC, please visit http://testing.gadoe.org and click on “Georgia Milestones Assessment System” (located on the left side of the webpage, under “Primary Assessments”).  Parent resources will then be available down the right-hand side of the next webpage.

Finally, please encourage your student to study, to rest well, to eat a good breakfast before testing, and to be on time to the assigned testing location.  We want all of our students to perform their very best on these critically important assessments!

Sincerely,

Slade Turner

Principal

Brunswick High School

***STUDENTS MUST WEAR THEIR STUDENT IDs to the TESTING LOCATION.
