I can write short pieces using diction to create imagery.
I can write using figurative language and imagery.
I can write dialogue

Introduction/Connection:

Class Discussion: What makes a vignette? How is it different from a short story?


DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

Teach how a vignette is written. Show a video that reteaches the material.
Show a vignette from an author. Introduce the Vignette Project

Work Period (We Do, You Do)
Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations. Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE:

Show a vignette I have written. Have students pick out the different requirements in it that meet the requirements for their assignment. Then, have students. Critique it.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:
You Do: If students complete the writing they can work with a partner to edit and revise.
