Learning Target:

I can familiarize myself with the teacher's expectations for Honors/Gifted Chemistry this semester.

I can reflect on my own learning style and see how my teacher will use various methods to teach all of her students according to their different intelligences.

Success Criteria:

I can complete requirement documentation for my teacher and my school.

I can complete a Multiple Intelligence Survey to do an inventory of how I learn and how my brain operates on a daily basis.

I can review the Scientific Method and implement those strategies in various ways within Ms. Watkins' chemistry course.

Instructional Strategies:

 

 

Gradual Release Model of Instruction:  I Do, We Do, You Do, We Check

 

Opening (I do): I pass out syllabi, classroom expectation and supply lists, and other necessary handouts.

Work Session (explain clearly the We Do and You Do portions):

     We Do:  

  1. Discuss layout of the classroom, restricted areas, how to handle various drills, rules to follow, and other factoids.
  2. Scientific Method discussion/review after students do some "You Do" tasks.

     You Do:

  1. Complete personal information handouts (emergency contacts, hobbies, favorite things, multiple intelligence survey, etc.) - turn these in to teacher!!
  2. Following We Do Scientific Method discussion with powerpoint

Closing (We Check):

 Ticket Out the Door - 3,2,1 Activity

Get 1-1/2-in. binder with dividers by MONDAY's class!
