Standard(s): MGSE9-12.A.REI.10 & 11 Algebra 1 Standards – Identify Slope on a Graph and in an Equation.

Learning Target: I will identify slope given a graph and an equation.

Success Criteria: I can calculate rise over run. I know the form of slope-intercept. I can identify the slope and y-intercept in an equation. I know the slope formula in order to find slope. I understand the concepts needed in order to solve an equation for "y".

Pirate Prep Warm Up

Instructional Strategies:

• Opening (I do): Notes in Spiral Notebook & watch Video 1 & Video 2. Place different lines on the board and have an open discussion with students about what they can tell me regarding the lines.
• Work Session (We do - You do): The teacher will complete sample problems from handout on slope and slope-intercept. In return, students will finish the handout.  
• Closing (We check):Answers will be displayed on the board. Check solutions with partners and review any questions students may have as a class. Exit Check/Ticket.

Differentiation Strategies: Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor. Students will work with pairs at some points throughout the assignment.

Formative/Summative Assessment(s) (We check): Check solutions with partners and review any questions students may have as a class. Exit Check/Ticket.
