Homework:  Please write complete sentences for vocabulary terms 6-10. Each sentence must be well-written and contain no less than 7 words each. Please Remember, that someone reading your sentence should be able to determine the definition of the vocabulary term you used in your sentence.


Journal Entry #1: Please respond to the journal prompt below in paragraph form (5-7 sentences)

  • If you could invent anything, what would it be? Describe why you want to invent it, what it would look like, what it would do.


Grammar Review: For the five sentences below, please write the verb form that agrees with the subject

  1. A stunt person (undergoes, undergo) training for dangerous scenes.

  2. Untrained stunt performers (has, have) had broken bones

  3. Camera angles (helps, help) make a fight seem real.

  4. On the set the sheriff (has, have) met an outlaw in an alley.

  5. In reality, no punches actually ( lands, land) on the actors.


Literary Standard: ELAGSE9-10RL3- Analyze how complex characters (e.g., those with multiple or conflicting motivations) develop over the course of a text, interact with other characters, and advance the plot or develop the theme.

Instructional Strategies

1.  Introduction and discussion over the literary term theme with students. 2. Students will complete numbers 1 and 2 on the front side of their  Identifying Theme handout, as well as  citing textual evidence from the passages to support their chosen theme. 3. Students will complete numbers 3 and 4 on Identifying Theme handout.


Class Assignment: Students, please be sure to complete section 1(Literary Terms) in your literary packet, as well as, reading comprehension questions 1-15.
