Standard(s): MGSE9-12.A.REI.12 Algebra 1 Standards – Graphing Linear Inequalities
Learning Target: I will graph linear inequalities on the coordinate plane.
Success Criteria:
- I can solve a linear inequality for slope-intercept form.
- I can graph the y-intercept and use the slope to form a line.
- I can understand the meanings of inequality symbols in order to connect points and shade my graph.
Pirate Prep Warm Up
Instructional Strategies:
- Opening (I do): Complete notes in spiral notebook on linear inequalities & watch video. As a class, we will discuss similarities graphing inequalities on a number line vs. coordinate plane.
- Work Session (We do-You do): As a class, we will do a few examples from the handout together. After, students will complete the remainder of the handout individually.
- Closing (We check): Check solutions with partners and review any questions students may have as a class. Exit Check/Ticket.
Differentiation Strategies: Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor. Students will work with pairs at some points throughout the assignment.
Formative/Summative Assessment(s) (We check): Verbally review the inequality symbols with the line/shading rules.
Assignment:
- Linear Equations Test – Friday, October 14th
- Linear Equations Review Session – Thursday, October 13th
