Learning Target:

I will solve systems of equations by substitution.

Success Criteria:

  • I can solve an equation for a variable.
  • I can substitute an expression into an equation to solve for a variable.
  • I can remember and understand the Box Box Circle Drag mnemonic.
  • I can identify the solution
    • One solution – (x, y)
    • No solutions – variables cancel out (false statement)
    • Infinitely many solution – variables cancel out (true statement)

Review steps of solving by subsisting systems of equations. 

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

None.

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE: 

Go over any problems from previous days worksheet.   

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will complete the substitution mini quiz.

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

As a class, we will review the mini quiz. If time remains and Chromebook are available, student can work on October Monthly Summarizer & Discussion.
