American Government Standards: SSCG3 Demonstrate knowledge of the framing and structure of the United States Constitution.


D. Explain the fundamental principles of the United States Constitution, including limited government, the rule of law, federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, and popular sovereignty. 



US History Standards: SSUSH5 Investigate specific events and key ideas that brought about the adoption and implementation of the United States Constitution.

e. Explain how objections to the ratification of the Constitution were addressed in the Bill of Rights.


Learning Target: I will analyze demonstrate knowledge of the key principles of our US Constitution

  • I can describe each principle of government as demonstrated in the Constitution

LT: I will identify analyze the structure of the Constitution and the goals of Preamble 

SC:

  • I can describe and list the different parts of the US Constitution 

  • I can analyze the Preamble of the US Constitution 

  • I can explain and analyze the 7 Articles of the US Constitution

  • I can explain, memorize, and analyze the Bill of Rights of the US Constitution 

  • I can list the remaining 17 amendments of the US Constitution  



Lesson: Preamble recap; Anatomy of Constitution graphic organizer;

Visual Learners will benefit from the Graphic Organizer

Auditory learners will benefit from the mnemonic device used to remember 7 Articles

Kinesthetic learners will benefit from the repetition of the Let's Eat Jumbo..." with the hand gestures
