Activities & Assignments Text(s)/Resources Used
Recall as many perfect squares as possible and write them down. Guided Notes- Simplifying Radicals Guided Examples- I do, We do, You do. Teacher will complete problems as examples. Teacher and student will go through problems together. Students will complete problems on their own. Practice- Simplifying Radicals 1 (Constants Only) Practice- Simplifying Radicals 2 (with variables) Review Activities (Choice of 2) Students who need more review on the basics will complete a puzzle containing problems without variables. Students who are sure about the basics will complete a color by number activity containing problems with variables.
Practice- Radical Expressions (Adding and Subtracting) Practice- Radical Expressions (Multiplying) Review- Radicals

Differentiation/Summarizing/Check for Understanding Scaffolding and small groups will be used for students who are struggling to clarify for understanding. Shortened assignments for struggling students. Teachers will visually and orally assess students throughout the class period and will frequently check for understanding. Students who need extra help with work one on one or in a small group with the teacher. Today’s Guided and Independent Practice will be checked together as a class for understanding, graded and students will have the opportunity to ‘fix’ missed problems.
Students have unlimited attempts at Weekly Assignments, Tests/Quizzes with the help of the teacher, giving more opportunity for understanding, exposure and success.
