Standard(s): MGSE9-12.A.CED.1 Algebra 1 Standards – Solve all types of Equations (Review)

Learning Target: I will create and solve algebraic equations.

Success Criteria:

·         I can use inverse operations.

·         I can create and solve equations.

o   One-step equations

o   Two-step equations

o   Multi-step equations

o   Variables on both sides

Pirate Prep Warm Up

Instructional Strategies:

• Opening (I do): Explain and discuss Activity Stations. Provide the directions to the Equation Puzzle. Students will be placed in to partners (some classes others will work individually)
• Work Session (We do-You do): None.
• Closing (We check): Teachers will monitor the classroom while students work to complete their puzzle, assisting where needed. Teachers will also monitor student chromebooks through Classroom Relay as they work to complete their skills plan in IXL. 

Differentiation Strategies: Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor. Students will work with pairs at some points throughout the assignment.

Formative/Summative Assessment(s) (We check): Students will work the first half in the classroom on the Equations puzzle and then will breakout into separate groups to work on their individually MAP skills plan (based on individual RIT score) in IXL. Students who were not present Friday for class will work to complete their missed quiz.
