Standard(s): MGSE9-12.A.REI.10 & 11 Algebra 1 Standards – Identify Slope on a Graph and in an Equation.
Learning Target: I will create, solve, and graph a linear equation (or inequality). I will identify and calculate the slope.
Success Criteria:
· I can identify & write a linear equation in the following forms:
o Slope-intercept form
o Given a graph
· I can identify the slope given the following:
o Equation
o Graph
§ Positive, negative, zero, undefined
o Given an application
o Two-points using slope formula
o Table using slope formula
Pirate Prep Warm Up
Instructional Strategies:
- Opening (I do): Notes & watch Video 1 & Video 2. Place different lines on the board and have an open discussion with students about what they can tell me regarding the lines.
- Work Session (We do-You do): The teacher will complete sample problems from handout on slope and slope-intercept. In return, students will finish the handout.
- Closing (We check): Answers will be displayed on the board. Check solutions with partners and review any questions students may have as a class. Exit Check/Ticket.
Differentiation Strategies: Scaffolding throughout lesson and applications will be provided for rigor. Students will work with pairs at some points throughout the assignment.
Formative/Summative Assessment(s) (We check): Check solutions with partners and review any questions students may have as a class. Exit Check/Ticket.
