Learning Target:

·         I will identify quadratic functions and their characteristics.

Success Criteria:

·         I can identify a quadratic function.

o    Graph – parabola or “u”-shape

o    Equations – power of “2”

§  Vertex form

§  Factored form

·         I can identify the A, B, and C value of a quadratic equation.

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

Complete notes in notebook on the common characteristics of quadratic functions.

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE: 

As a class, we will complete a couple sample problems from the handout.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will finish and complete problems on the board for a check towards the end of class.
