Learning Target:
Read closely and analyze an article about Teen Jobs and saving
Connect the concept of saving and spending with the current non-fiction articles we are reading.
Success Criteria:
Students will create annotated texts with detailed notes regarding their impressions of Saving and Spending.
Students will write their plans for purchasing items they desire based on the articles advice.


Activities & Assignments
PP: Latin Root

Students will begin the class with a general discussion about the words thrifty and frugal. The class will discuss general ways to be both and why these behaviors are so important today. A special emphasis on the teacher’s experience with game consoles will be explored. Students will identify and write about a specific item they dream of purchasing.

Students will read the article, write paragraph summaries, and answer the guided questions.

Students will then follow up their writing with a detailed plan to purchase their dream items and the specific steps they will follow to accomplish that goal. Class will conclude with a discussion and independent time to finish projects.
