An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

Standard/s:

MGSE9-12.F.IF.7 & 9 Algebra 1 Standards  Comparing linear, quadratic & exponential tables.

Learning Target:

·         I will create and present information regarding a linear, quadratic or exponential function.

Success Criteria:

·         I can describe the way a LQE function looks on the graph.

·         I can explain the difference in an LQE function.

·         I can explain how a table changes of an LQE.

·         I can describe and identify words that represent an LQE function in applications.

Introduction/Connection: 

Pirate Prep

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

We will discuss the expectations/instructions of the Functions Podcast. 

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE: 

None.     

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will work with a partner (assigned) and will be monitored throughout the class to make sure the project is getting done accurately.   

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

The teacher will observe and question students on a need-to-need basis on the work given. Teacher will individually conference if needed with student to check his/her work.
