Learning Target:

·         I will compare and contrast linear, quadratic, and exponential functions.

Success Criteria:

·         I can identify the difference between linear, quadratic, and exponential functions

o    Equations

o    Situations

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

Complete Notes on Comparing Functions.

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10

GUIDED PRACTICE: 

As a class, we will complete a couple examples in our notes together on different functions using graphs, equations, tables and situations.     

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will sort out and identify the differences in linear, quadratic and exponential functions on their worksheet. 

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

The teacher will observe and question students on a need-to-need basis on the work given. Teacher will individually conference if needed with student to check his/her work.
