An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

Learning Target:

·         I will compare and contrast data graphs and charts.

Success Criteria:

·         I can identify the appropriate times to use the following graphs to display data:

o   Bar graph – compares

o   Lin graph – shows change over time

o   Circle graph – parts of a whole

o   Uniform distribution – no mode

o   Unimodal distribution – one mode

o   Bimodal distribution – two modes

o   Trimodal distribution – three modes

o   Symmetric distribution – mirror image

o   Normal distribution – bell shape

o   Left-skewed distribution – low outliers

o   Right-skewed distribution – high outliers

·         I can create and analyze the following data graphs/charts:

o   Bar graph

o   Line graph

o   Circle graph

Complete Notes on Bar, Line, & Circle graphs.

Work Period (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE: 

We will complete sample problems from handout. Students will finish the remaining problems with a partner. 

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

Students will come to the board and share answers.

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .
