Learning Target:

·         I will compare and contrast data graphs and charts.

Success Criteria:

·         I can identify the appropriate times to use the following graphs to display data:

o   Bar graph – compares

o   Lin graph – shows change over time

o   Circle graph – parts of a whole

o   Uniform distribution – no mode

o   Unimodal distribution – one mode

o   Bimodal distribution – two modes

o   Trimodal distribution – three modes

o   Symmetric distribution – mirror image

o   Normal distribution – bell shape

o   Left-skewed distribution – low outliers

o   Right-skewed distribution – high outliers

·         I can create and analyze the following data graphs/charts:

o   Bar graph

o   Line graph

o   Circle graph

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

GUIDED PRACTICE: 

We will discuss the process of the heart rate activity. As a class, we will work outside to complete the heart rate activity assignment (running portion).

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

We will return inside and create frequency tables and histograms of the class heart rates.     

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .
