Activities & Assignments
PP: FFW
Read aloud of “What Happened During the Ice Storm.” Consider the opening writing prompt “what if we changed the title?”
The class will carefully consider the contrasting intentions of the farmers and the young boys in the story. Using quotes from the text, the class will justify their interpretations.
Students will then map out the details that show rising danger throughout the story. Frame sentences will be provided to help students track this rising tension.
From here the class will combine the sentences produced in the frame to create complex sentence to further explore the nature of tension in “What Happened During the Ice Storm.”
