The instructor will introduce the short story “Lamb to the Slaughter.” After a read aloud of the first seven paragraphs, students will write a short response gauging the mental state of the main character Mary.
The class will read further into the story and think carefully about how Mary’s expectations are defied. Another short writing assignment will explore these details and list how we come to them.
A final discussion will explore students expectations as to where the story goes from here.
