Preliminary time for the personal space project will be given along with directions for a peer review.
Students will begin the day with a large list of words, sticky notes and scissors. They will cut out the words and create categories with which to organize the words. They will do all of this within a group.
Students will then take a gallery walk and view the categories created by their peers. What commonalities do they see? Students will be encouraged to discuss words they did not understand and work together to come to an understanding about those words.
Students will then be invited to make predictions about the short story we will read based upon the words they have been given. A frame sentence will be provided to express this prediction as an exit ticket.
