Respond to the opening prompt exploring the opening choir in Romeo and Juliet. Analyze the words and extrapolate what is to come in the play itself.
Explore variant definitions of the word civil and think about the many ways that word affects the opening. The instructor will then summarize the overall plot and conflict of the play.
The instructor will then pass out character motivation sheets and thought questions to aid students in preparing to act out the play. After students complete their thought questions, the class will view a production of the scene on youtube. The class will carefully consider the thought questions in regard to the scene from the Zeferilli production.
