Opening Read aloud of “The Fight” by Montague. Two sentence summary.
The class will explore word choice within the poem and the surprising implications of the word “egg.” Over the stanzas, students will closely consider words that communicate what the EGG actually is.
Students will gather into small groups to respond to the word choice graphic organizer and delve even further into the symbolic language of Montague’s word choice.
The class will close with a variety of frame sentence exercises and a word choice exit ticket.
