The teacher will introduce the poetic concept of a ballad using the music of Lead Belly. The class will follow as the form is explored and how it usually presents in poetry. A tpcastt form will be collectively completed by the class.
The instructor will then pass out eight ballad poems to different groups in the classroom. Students will be invited to read these poems, fill out a tpcastt form on their own, and present their findings in a quick presentation.
The class will conclude with students attempting to write their own ballads for the poetry project.
