Read closely and analyze an article about the salem witch trials.
Connect the Salem Witch Trials to the early events of Silas Marner.
Success Criteria:
Respond to guided question about the article
Write a short essay connecting superstition and outsiders to both the Salem Witch Trials and the Novel Silas Marner.
Activities & Assignments
PP: Latin Root
The class will begin with an intro to the achieve article. It will also contain a quick review for the first chapters of our Novel.
Students will read the article and write out summaries of each paragraph to be checked by the instructor. Once everyone has been cleared, they may begin to respond to the guided questions.

Class discussion connecting the events of the article and the novel. “Witchcraft, Superstition, and the Outsider.”
Essay prompt: “In what ways do the outsiders get labeled today? Who are the modern outsiders, and what witchcraft do they conduct?”
