Learning Target:
Read closely and analyze an article about psychics.
Connect the concept of psychics with the poetry of William Butler Yeats.
Success Criteria:
Students will create annotated texts with detailed notes regarding their impressions of poetry.
Students will write their own poems mimicking the prophetic and boisterous styles of Yeats and Stevens.


Activities & Assignments

Class will begin with a short summary of an achieve article on psychics. Students will be asked to pre-write on their feelings on the existence and value of psychics both in the real and literary world. Students will then be invited to read the achieve article and write summaries on its contents.

Once the students are done with the achieve article, the class will discuss whether their attitude’s changed. Students will then be introduced to a j-stor article about the presence of a so-called “Psychic Medium” in the life of William Butler Yeats. Students will then be asked to write a short essay on whether their thoughts on Yeats have changed since learning of his esoteric past.

Class will close with poetry project time.
