Learning Target:
Read closely and analyze an article about knights
Prepare for the oncoming unit on Arthur and the Green Knight
Success Criteria:
Students will create annotated texts with detailed notes regarding their impressions medieval knights
Students will write a short story about a revered figure as a knight and what they would represent


Activities & Assignments
PP: Latin Root

Students will begin the class with a general discussion about the era of knight hood and what it entailed. The instructor will tell a few quick “Arthurian” tales before the students read the article.

Students will read the article, write paragraph summaries, and answer the guided questions.

Students will then read a follow up article with a particular arthurian legend of the black knight. They will respond to a few discussion questions in their journals. Students will conclude class with a story about a revered figure and why they would be worthy of knighthood.
