Standards: SSCG2c: Analyze the ways in which the philosophies listed in element 2b influenced the Declaration of Independence.


LT: I will analyze the key ideas and writings of early philosophers and how those shaped the development and structure of the United States government.

SC:I can analyze how these philosophies influenced the Declaration of Independence

  2. Explain colonial response to the Proclamation of 1763, the Stamp Act, and the Intolerable Acts as seen in the Sons and Daughters of Liberty and the Committees of Correspondence.

LT: I will analyze the key ideas and writings of early philosophers and how those shaped the development and structure of the United States government.

SC:I can analyze how these philosophies influenced the Declaration of Independence

I will analyze how the US Constitution addresses the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. 


Success Criteria:


  • I can identify the 5 weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation 

  • I can analyze the effect of each weakness of the AOC

  • I can describe how Shays’ Rebellion exposed the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, including how it pushed the framers to house the Constitutional Convention of 1787
