Supplies and Syllabi

Supply list:
  • Composition notebook
  • Math Folder
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Pencils
  • Eraser
  • Recommended for use at home – scientific calculator, ruler, graph paper.
Due to the current environment, it is strongly suggested that any school supplies which are normally provided in the classroom be purchased unless you don't mind sharing.

All Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus classes will be required to take and keep notes in a composition notebook.  All math courses I teach require students to bring notebook paper, 2 different colored pens, pencils, and erasers. Each student will need a designated location to keep assignments, such as a binder or folder.   Highlighters or colored pencils and a few sheets of quarter-inch graph paper are also suggested, but not required.

We have a classroom set of Ti-Nspire graphing calculators and Ti-84 graphing calculators, but they cannot be removed from the classroom.  A graphing calculator is a scientific calculator which also graphs. All work can be done with a scientific calculator. I strongly encourage ALL students to have a calculator to access at home. Most students have a calculator on their phone,  computer, tablet, or one purchased for a previous class they may use at home to complete assignments.

All cell phones have a scientific calculator preinstalled, but these can't be used at school.  Below are they types of calculators used at BHS.

TI-36XPro (solar powered)      TI-84 Plus (Older model, batteries needed)

TI-36X Pro Scientific Calculator - Copco Educational Products     TI-84 Plus Calculator - Copco Educational Products

TI-84 Plus CE (Newer model, rechargable)               TI-Nspire CX II (not CAS)

There are a number of apps that can downloaded onto phones, however phones will not be in use during class.  I will not accept late work or excuses about work due to lack of a calculator at home.  Most homework will not require a calculator (with the exception of AP Stats). (AP Precalculus students will be eligible to check out a TI-84 second semester, but need to understand that it has a value of  $100+ and must be returned in working order.)

IF you purchase a calculator this year, please save the TI-points or proof of purchase for the school.

We do a number of activities to collect data.  If you would like to donate any of the following, it would be greatly appreciated.

Fun Size bags of Skittles and/or M&M’s (Pre-packaged)

Deck of Playing Cards

A Calculator with statistic functions is mandatory for this course.  We have a classroom set of Ti-Nspire graphing calculators and Ti-84 graphing calculators, but they cannot be removed from the classroom and must be shared.  (AP Statistics students will be eligible to check out a TI-84 second semester, but need to understand that it has a value of  $100+ and must be returned in working order.)

I have included additional information about calculators on the Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus tab.  Most students have a calculator on their phone,  computer, tablet, or one purchased for a previous class they may use at home to complete assignments.  I will not accept late work or excuses about work due to lack of a calculator at home.  Most homework WILL require a calculator.
