Earning College Credit

College Bound
Advanced Placement courses are college-level courses offered by trained high school teachers in the regular high school setting. Typically about one-third of the students in Georgia public high schools are enrolled in AP courses. In May of each year, AP students take the AP exam(s). Students who score at the 3, 4 or 5 level may be able to earn college credit for these courses taken in the high school.  For more information, click here.

11th and 12th Grade Students are eligible to participate in DE classes assuming they have met college entrance requirements for the college they have applied to

If you are interested in participating in Dual Enrollment courses, come to guidance and speak to your counselor.

Your first steps should be to take the ACT, SAT or Accuplacer and then apply for acceptance into the college you wish to attend (Normally College of Coastal Georgia or Coastal Pines Technical College).

Once you have been accepted, schedule a time to meet with your counselor to discuss class options to ensure classes you want to take will fit into your BHS Schedule.  Students will then contact the DE Coordinator at the college and finalize classes.  Once the college has confirmed your classes, go to www.gafutures.org and find the link for "Dual Enrollment Application".  On the next page, find "Click here to view tutorial video of the application process".  Once students/parents have completed their forms, please inform your high school counselor that it has been completed.

If you need to register for the Accuplacer through College of Coastal Georgia, click here to go to the CCGA Testing Center Website.  Once there, click the link under the "Ready to Register" heading to sign up for the Accuplacer.  In order to register, you must have completed an online application for CCGA, and have received a confirmation email from CCGA with your CCGA Student ID number.

If you would like to take classes at the College of Coastal Georgia during your eleventh, or twelfth grade year, and get college and high school credit for the same courses, then this is your opportunity!!!
