Service Hours

BHS Service Hours Service Hours for most clubs are due April 15.

  • Responsibility to follow the guidelines listed below falls completely upon the student.
  • All service hours must be correctly logged into my.innerview.org within 14 days of the service.
    • Hours completed in the summer should also be entered within 14 days of the service.
  • Enter all information into my.innerview.org, including the name, email and phone number of the adult supervisor.  This will usually not be your club advisor.
  • The Group/Club which you are completing the hours for must be included on the my.innerview.org entry.
  • Hours can only be entered once.  Hours entered for one club will count towards any clubs which allow students to "double dip" and only get entered once.  Duplicate events are deleted by innerview, which may cause the loss of approved hours.
  • Hours worked during regular SCHOOL HOURS are not allowed, unless pre-approved by Mrs. L.Hutchinson or your club advisor.  Pre-approval will rarely occur and only with an SSA form completed prior to the event.
  • Check my.innerview.org regularly to make sure your hours have been approved.  If hours are not approved, fix the problem and resubmit within 14 days.  Do not recreate the event.  Duplicate events are deleted by innerview, which may cause the loss of approved hours.
  • Service hours can be earned through a variety of ways, however please follow these rules:
    • You cannot be PAID or compensated for the hours.
    • Hours cannot be earned by doing an activity REQUIRED for ANOTHER club or extracurricular.
    • Hours should be for NON-family members, especially in structured programs like the Humane Society or SGHS.
    • ALL tutoring must be done in a structured program, such as Communities in School or Boys and Girls Club.
    • ALL babysitting must be done in a structured program.
    • Working for teachers during the school day does NOT qualify as service.
    • Hours spent working must be completed for a NON-Profit Organization.  Volunteer work at restaurants or hotels does not qualify for service hours.
    • Parents, Guardians, and immediate family may NOT serve as your supervisor.
    • No more than 3 hours can be completed by purchases unless approved by the club. (Example: Sold extra Relay for Life feet. Donated extra canned goods.)
    • Fundraisers for other clubs, groups, or sports does not qualify as service. (Example: Boston Butt Sales for Mission trip)
    • Required activities and events for other clubs, groups, or sports does not qualify as service.  (Example: Band car wash)
    • Activities in which you regularly participate does not qualify as service if it is the only service you complete. (Example: Working/Singing in the church once a month, when you always help in the nursery or sing in the choir.)
    • A maximum 5 hours total can be completed through the "Blue Crew". Participating in a blue crew event does not qualify as service. Helping  prepare for an event may qualify, but this is up to the discretion of both Mrs. L. Hutchinson and Mrs. Grady.
    • ALL innerview.org online opportunities must receive prior approval. Podcast and online meetings are not service hours.

NHS Members must volunteer 5 hours their first semester and 10 hours every semester after that until they graduate.  As benchmarks, you should use the following guidelines:
